Stangel brothers publish parody for parents

Do you have kids? Do you remember what life was like before them? You know, those days, long, long ago in what seems like a galaxy far, far away, when the word "hip" didn't make you think of your aging body?

Humor writers and brothers, Eric and Justin Stangel, have written a hilarious book with an inside look at life in the suburbs when you're married with kids.

Goodnight Husband, Goodnight Wife is an illustrated book and a parody on a classic children's bedtime story, and one that parents will find themselves reading - and laughing along to - after their kids are finally asleep.
Goodnight Husband, Goodnight Wife
Goodnight to our old life

Back hair, midlife crises, granny panties, man boobs...nothing is off limits!

Eric Stangel and Justin Stangel are head writers and producers of the Late Show with David Letterman, part of a team that has won two Primetime Emmy Awards, twenty-one Emmy nominations, and various Writers Guild of America nominations.

In 2011, Eric Stangel was named to Time.com's Twitter 140, a list of the world's most influential people on Twitter, under the Sports category.

Celebrating the birth date of Johnny Cash

Johnny Cash was born February 26, 1932 which means he would have turned 80 this year. John Carter Cash, Johnny Cash's only child with June Carter Cash, has shared his father's personal life in his recent book, House of Cash, providing fans around the world the opportunity to really get to know the Man in Black.

Did you know?
  • Cash starred in his own TV show on the ABC Network from 1969 - 1971.
  • Johnny Cash was arrested in 1965 for picking flowers (trespassing in Mississippi).
  • In 1993, actress Jane Seymour named one of her twin boys after Johnny Cash.
John Carter was kind enough to share a few intimate details about his father in honor of his birth day.
"My father loved peanuts. Each year for his birthday I go to his gravesite and leave peanuts scattered across his grave."

"Dad was mostly about celebrating other folk’s birthdays. But I do remember his fiftieth. There was a large party and seemingly everyone he knew was there."

A new Johnny Cash museum is scheduled to open this summer in Nashville. A separate groundbreaking event will take place in Dyess, Arkansas to preserve Cash's childhood home.

Top Titles from 2011

It's February already, but we're still excited about our successful titles from 2011, especially those that are still getting some major publicity. Of course, it does help that we've been lucky enough to work with some big names, like John Carter Cash, Ken Regan and Deckard Cain, the character behind one of the most anticipated games of this year, from Blizzard Entertainment.

Rave Reviews:

All Access (2nd printing)

"Magic, historic, epic moments, and all in a day’s work for Regan, judging by the jaw-dropping number of them featured in the book’s pages.

But then who else could boast a preface by Keith Richards and an introduction by Mick Jagger….?" - Driven

Diablo III: Book of Cain

"...the most badass pieces of gaming literature I've ever had the pleasure of getting my hands on." - Nerd Mentality

House of Cash (2nd printing)

"...it may be one of the best ways to get to know what he was like as a father, husband, and friend instead of as the musical icon so many are familiar with." - Publishers Weekly (Starred Review)

The Dickens Bicentenary

Charles Dickens was an intriguing personality. He was a man far ahead of his time, a Victorian whose ideals and outlook on life were better suited to the modern world. With beautiful photographs and artworks, and many never before seen facsimile documents from Dickens's own archives, Charles Dickens brings to life this extraordinary and complex man, whose name remains internationally revered and whose work continues to inspire us today.
Charles Dickens is the definitive interactive illustrated guide to the man and his works. Produced in association with the Charles Dickens Museum, London, it follows Dickens from early childhood, including his time spent as a child labourer, and looks at how he became the greatest celebrity of his age, and how he still remains one of Britain's most renowned literary figures, even in the twenty-first century. It is an intimate look at what he was like as a husband, father, friend and employer; at his longing to be an actor, his travels across North America, his year spent living in Italy and his great love of France. It introduces Dickens's fascinating family and his astonishing circle of friends, and we discover when and how life and real-life personalities were imitated in his art.

Charles Dickens: The Dickens Bicentenary 1812 - 2012
by Lucinda Dickens Hawksley with The Charles Dickens Museum
Hardcover | $39.99 | 124 pages

Lucinda Dickens Hawksley is the great-great-great granddaughter of Charles Dickens and a patron of the Charles Dickens Museum in London. She has written more than 20 books, including Lizzie SiddalThe Tragedy of a Pre-Raphaelite Supermodel (2004) and Katey, The Life and Loves of Dickens's Artist Daughter (2006). A lecturer as well as a writer, Lucinda is an expert in Dickens' family life and has been awarded a fellowship to study the life of Augustus Dickens (Charles's brother and the original "Boz") at the Newberry Library in Chicago.

A Guy's Guide to Pinterest

Pinterest has quickly become a household name, particularly in households with females who like to cook, craft and create.

While there are a few men adding pins to their boards (around 20% of pinterest users are male), it seems as though this number is growing quite rapidly.

Just since we've joined, we've discovered some great guys to follow with some pretty cool imagery to look at. Here's our list of Pinners (is that what Pinterest users are called?) to check out:

Take a look at some of our recent pins:

Celebrate the birth day of Bob Marley

Bob Marley was born on February 6, 1945 and lived to only 36. He left behind a legendary musical career, earning numerous awards and accolades including a Lifetime Achievement Award (Grammy, 2001) and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in March of 1994.

The latest book from our One on One series, Bob Marley, will be released on February 20th.

On assignment in Jamaica for Time magazine in 1976, David Burnett photographed Bob Marley at his Tuff Gong home in Kingston, Jamaica, and then on the start of the seminal Exodus tour. Capturing the legend at an exceptional moment in time, Burnett’s work intersects with both the zenith of Marley’s career and the traumatic upheaval of his flight from Jamaica after an attempt on his life. For any reggae lover or music history buff, Bob Marley offers a matchless glimpse into the legend’s life at home.

Photo-journalist David Burnett first photographed Bob Marley in 1976. Burnett's vision coupled with Marley's larger-than-life charisma resulted in an amazing collection of previously unseen images in Soul Rebel: An Intimate Portrait of Bob Marley in Jamaica and Beyond.
