Insight Editions is pleased to announce its lineup for the eagerly anticipated 2013 New York Comic Con (October 10–13, Booth #1564). Not only will we have specials, giveaways, and promotions, but everything in the booth will be 30% off. We will also have in-booth signings of some of this year’s blockbuster titles and we’ll debut some new projects, including:

We’re very excited to announce that Diablo III: Book of Tyrael (Pub. Date: October 29) will be signed at NYCC on Saturday, October 12th at 11:00 a.m. in our booth! Join Doug A. Gregory from art direction, illustrator Joseph Lacroix, and Blizzard lead story developer Micky Neilson.

One of the most exciting and visceral action role-playing games in recent memory, Diablo® has become a worldwide gaming phenomenon. Diablo III: Book of Tyrael takes fans even further into the universe with a detailed and beautifully crafted artifact that focuses on the renowned champion Tyrael. As a former archangel of the High Heavens, he ranks among the most important and influential characters in the Diablo franchise. Here, in this illustrated and comprehensive tome, he reveals never-before-known secrets about the history of the world, the dark threats that yet face mankind, and his decision to join the ranks of humanity as a mortal. Featuring stunning original art throughout, this beautifully illustrated follow-up to Diablo III: Book of Cain will also feature letters from Leah and additional fragments of Cain’s writings, all curated by Tyrael as he weaves together a complex and fascinating story for the members of the Horadrim.

Diablo III: Book of Tyrael also features a fully removable illustration of the Leoric family and other influential characters from Old Tristram, including Deckard Cain, Prince Albrecht, Archbishop Lazarus, King Leoric, Prince Aidan, Queen Asylla, Leah, and Adria. This reversible image demonstrates their normal appearances on one side, along with a representation of their dark fates on the other.

The Art of Blizzard event at Gallery Nucleus

It was an unusually cold night in Los Angeles, but that didn't stop over 600 Blizzard fans from coming out on Saturday to wait in line for the opening night of the Art Exhibit and Book Launch of The Art of Blizzard at Gallery Nucleus.

Several media outlets were on site to interview Chris Metzen and Nick Carpenter before the crowd of people gathered inside the gallery to get in yet another line. This time, they waited with their massive, 376 page copy of The Art of Blizzard, as artists Wei Wang, Glenn Rane, Laurel Austin, and several others signed copies.

Art sculptures featuring characters from Blizzard were on display among the 65 pieces of framed art which include black and white sketches and full-color illustrations that can be found inside the book.

Images from Fallen games could be found upstairs, where art demos took place throughout the night, touching on unpublished games that Chris Metzen, Samwise Didier and Nick Carpenter are sharing for the first time in The Art of Blizzard.

A scavenger hunt took place and a bunch of raffle prizes were given out during the event. Guests were also treated to mana and health potions to keep them energized!

Our Limited Edition of The Art of Blizzard was announced and fans can start placing pre-orders now!
  • Comes in an elegant saifu-cloth slipcase
  • Specially bound signed and numbered edition of the book
  • Includes 4 giclee prints featuring artwork by Brom, Samwise Didier, and Wei Wang
  • Limited to 1500 signed copies
  • Available May 2013
The art exhibit goes through February 3, 2013 and books will be available at the gallery store as well as online.

Post Comic-con wrap-up

It's only been three days since Comic-con came to an end in San Diego, but we're all still recovering from the long days and even longer nights surrounding the annual event.

Here's a quick re-cap of what we at Insight Editions experienced during the 5-day event. If you're looking for pictures, check our our Twitter feed, Facebook page, Instagram and Pinterest accounts where we uploaded images during SDCC.

Thursday, July 12, 2012
Illustrator Scott Campbell came by to sign copies of his book, "Amazing Everything," delighting his fans with one-of-a-kind drawings and posing for photos with his legions of fans.

At the same time, the Blizzard Entertainment panel was taking place upstairs, so we were able to sit in on that to hear the licensing products being launched for next year, including our book, "The Art of Blizzard," which is still on sale over at our website.

Inside the Batmobile - the exclusive 22-minute sneak peek at the upcoming documentary, "The Batmobile" was shown at Comic-Con and fans were hyped by the fact that all 5 vehicles were outside of the San Diego Convention Center for a close-up look at the history of the Batmobile. Our book, "Batmobile: The Complete History" was put together as a written documentary to accompany the upcoming film.

Friday, July 13, 2012

Even though "The Art of Blizzard" will not be available until later this fall, two of the authors stopped by to sign some posters for fans. Chris Metzen and Sam Didier are recognized names and faces at Comic-Con and we were thrilled that they were able to swing by our booth.

Our invite-only art exhibit for "The Art of Blizzard" took place Friday night at the LoungeSD and the community winners who won an invite from Blizzplanet were stoked to hang out at such an intimate venue with their favorite guys from Blizzard along with seeing the framed art from pieces that will be included in the book. Check out the #ArtofBlizzard hashtag on Twitter to see more photos from the fans themselves or tag your photos in case we haven't seen or shared them on our social sites yet.

Continuing with the excitement surrounding the Blizzard team, the creative minds behind Diablo III: Book of Cain were at our Booth signing Limited Edition copies of the book. Matt Flint Dille, Matt Burns and Mickey Neilson joined us while the first 10 people in line got to take home a swag bag from our #ArtofBlizzard event the night before.

Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures announced their next big film by acclaimed filmmaker Guillerom del Toro, Pacific Rim, and we were finally able to share with our fans that we're working on the book in conjunction with the film for next summer!

Jerry Beck came by our Booth to sign copies of his book, 100 Greatest Looney Tunes Cartoons and we spoke about some fun, upcoming projects he's working on for us as well.

Our last author signing for this year's San Diego Comic-Con was my personal favorite, since I was able to meet Iain McCaig for the first time and watch as he posed fans and created a custom drawing with them alongside his signature in the latest version of his book, "Shadowline." For nearly two hours, Iain told stories and sketched unique illustrations for those who were lucky enough to get in line for his book signing. He ran out of time, but hopefully we'll catch up with him at another event where more fans can get to know him and his work.

Sunday, July 15, 2012

While we did not have any author signings on the last day of Comic-con, it was probably the most exciting, as we were finally able to announce the news of our forthcoming books on Fringe and Supernatural.

All Comic-con titles are on sale through the end of August, including our pre-orders for the Fall and Winter releases. If you plan on attending the NY Comic-con in October, make sure to stop by and say hi. We'll be announcing our author signings soon for this event!

To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes -- a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi) -- who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind's last hope against the mounting apocalypse. Pacific Rim also stars Idris Elba, Ron Perlman, and Charlie Day.

Top Titles from 2011

It's February already, but we're still excited about our successful titles from 2011, especially those that are still getting some major publicity. Of course, it does help that we've been lucky enough to work with some big names, like John Carter Cash, Ken Regan and Deckard Cain, the character behind one of the most anticipated games of this year, from Blizzard Entertainment.

Rave Reviews:

All Access (2nd printing)

"Magic, historic, epic moments, and all in a day’s work for Regan, judging by the jaw-dropping number of them featured in the book’s pages.

But then who else could boast a preface by Keith Richards and an introduction by Mick Jagger….?" - Driven

Diablo III: Book of Cain

"...the most badass pieces of gaming literature I've ever had the pleasure of getting my hands on." - Nerd Mentality

House of Cash (2nd printing)

"...it may be one of the best ways to get to know what he was like as a father, husband, and friend instead of as the musical icon so many are familiar with." - Publishers Weekly (Starred Review)

In Blizzard Entertainment’s Diablo® and Diablo II, the recurring character of Deckard Cain delivered quests, accompanied the brave adventurer, and, as the last of the Horadrim, provided a link to the greater history of the world of Sanctuary. Ever mysterious during these appearances, Cain hinted at a larger story, providing snippets of it in his notebook. Diablo III: Book of Cain is Cain’s formal record of this greater tale—a dissertation on the lore of the Diablo universe, told by one who has witnessed and participated in some of the epic events that make up the eternal conflict between the High Heavens and the Burning Hells.

Designed as an “in-world” artifact from the Diablo universe, Diablo III: Book of Cain includes Cain’s revealing meditations, as well as dozens of sketches and color artworks depicting the angelic and demonic beings who wage constant war with one another.
